Measure the space, not just the screen
Measure your TV cabinet’s width and depth and check where the feet sit. Screen size alone does not establish whether the device fits your furniture. For wall mounting, check the exact model’s mounting information and weight in its manual. An existing bracket does not automatically fit another television. Allow space for connections behind the screen too.
Stand, remote and cables make a difference
A returned TV may lack its stand, mounting hardware or remote. Before buying, establish which parts belong with the model and whether replacements are available. Sony, for example, offers model-based remote support. Use documentation for the brand you are considering. A universal remote is not automatically suitable for every function. Include replacement costs in your total budget.
Match the exact model to your equipment
Do you use a console, receiver or soundbar? Note the connections they need and check whether this television provides them. Streaming services also depend on the operating system and support for the app you want. The words smart TV do not establish that every app remains available. Check the manufacturer’s information for the version you are considering rather than relying on a similar TV.
What is known about the picture and condition?
Look for visible damage to the panel and case. Ask what is known about picture, sound and connections, and what has not been tested. A damaged box does not prove panel damage, while neat packaging does not prove a good picture. Functionality remains unknown for untested televisions. If you need a usable TV immediately, consider the value of certainty about its condition.
