FLIP · Returned electronics checklist

A good deal?
Take a closer look.

A low price catches your attention. The exact model, condition and included parts determine whether it is a good purchase for you. Use this checklist before buying a returned device.

1. Note the exact model

Do not compare only the brand or product photo. Find the model number, version and relevant features such as storage, connections or size. Two devices that look alike can have different capabilities.

2. Read what is known about condition

Is the item tested, untested or known to be defective? What damage is visible or listed? Ask about missing information. Do not assume unknown functionality means working. Damaged packaging tells you little about the condition of the device itself.

Read about returned, refurbished and untested products.

3. Check the accessories

A charger, remote, charging case, mount or cable may be essential. Check what you will actually receive and what you would need to buy separately. Check that replacement parts are suitable and available before deciding.

4. Check whether the device suits your needs

For a phone or laptop, ask about account locks and whether the device can be used independently. Check connections and compatibility with your other devices. For battery-dependent products, find out what is known about the battery. Do not open a device to investigate it yourself.

5. Compare price and condition

Use a price for the same model and version. When comparing online, consider the seller, condition and any delivery charges. Comparison with a new item differs from a discount on the store’s previous price. A larger price difference does not automatically make up for a missing part or defect.

How to read the daily price and an online price comparison.

On a limited budget? Read the guide to a considered purchase.

6. Keep the information supplied with your purchase

Read the product information before paying and ask for an explanation of known deviations. Keep your receipt and the details of what you bought. FLIP’s final store terms will be available before opening.

Good to know

Does this checklist guarantee that the product works?

No. The checklist helps you ask questions and assess information. It does not replace product testing or an explanation of the known condition of a specific item.
